Digital photogrammetry

Photogrammetry is the technique used to register 2D or 3D objects from partly overlapping photographs taken from different locations, also called stereo viewing. Some hardcopy film may still be in use, but the imagery is today mostly stored electronically on tape or disk, taken by video or CCD cameras or high accuracy scanners. The applications of photogrammetry are widely spread, and is mainly utilized for interpretation, classification and registration of various objects visible in the imagery.
Typical end results or products from Aerial Photogrammetry could be:
• coordinates of registered objects
• topographical and thematical maps
• terrain modeling and 3D city models.
Orthophotos (rectified imagery). Source data for GIS and visualization - Typical end results or products from Terrestrial Photogrammetry could be:
• architectural preservation/documentation.
• automatic production control measurements.
• reconstruction in medical recovery, crime scenes
