LASER SCANNING AND DIGITAL AERIAL PHOTO OF INDRE STORFJORDEN

Between October 2005 and July 2006 Blom executed a laser scanning and digital aerial photo project of Indre Storfjorden in Norway. Information was collected through fixed wing (airplane) laser scanning of approximately 600sq.km of mountainous fjord areas. The customers were Stranda Municipality and the Geological Survey of Norway. The information is used for landslide modelling and for use in tsunami warning systems.

An Optech ALTM3100C/Piper Navajo PA31 laser installation was used to establish a laser pointcloud with a point density of 1 point/sq.m. The flying height was 200 metres above the terrain. In addition, orthophotos were made using Vexcel UltraCamD digital cameras. The ground sample distance of the produced orthophoto is 20 cm.
